6-24-1988 Appalachian News Express Blake VanHoose Blake VanHoose, 74, of Pikeville, died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital. He was born at Besty Layne, April 9, 1914, a son of Dockie Layne VanHoose of Pikeville and the late Dan J. VanHoose. He was in the construction business and a member of the Pikeville United Methodist Church. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Doris Wade VanHoose; two sons, Richard Blake VanHoose and Joe Dan VanHoose, both of Pikeville; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Sharon Stephens of Atlanta Beach, North Carolina, and Mrs. Barbara Werner of Moorehead City, North Carolina; one brother, Jack VanHoose of Worthington; seven gradchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday June 28, in the United Methodist Church with the Rev. James A. Seelhorst and the Rev. James E. Lemaster officiating. Entombment followed in the York Mausoleum of Johnson Memorial Park, Pikeville. Arrangements were under direction of Justice Funeral Home of Pikeville. obit courtesy of John Picklesimer
